Photo taken on the site of Herdmanston castle looking towards the lectern dovecot and outhouse, to the right further back (out of view) is the more modern gothic looking chapel. The two burns nearby were probably part of the original moat and the site is supposed to have contained a towerhouse with an enclosing barmkin wall. Sadly now it is only a group of grassy mounds beside the castle well. A. Spratt |
